HISTORY ! Born in a wealthy family, Aspen was spoiled since babyhood, getting whatever his heart desired. His parents were both well off, bringing in money by the thousands. His father was a hard parent, he would push his son do succeed in everything "manly". Aspen was forced into playing every sport, and failing each time. Too many sports injuries led him to hating any type of ball sports. He took to horse riding. Getting a pony when he was ten
At age seventeen he went to Vegas on a trip with his AP class in high school. One of his friends bribed him into going into a strip club with him for a few drinks and maybe some flirting. It went so much further. He met a woman named Rachel who instantly seduced him, even without the alcohol. Even huge nerds have instinct, he took her straight to bed, and returned home with an STD and the fear that he may become a father. Those fears came true. Nine months passed and the news came that a son was born. As much as he wanted to, he wasn't able to meet his son, Josh
All throughout his school life, Aspen took to video games and academics. He always did very well in school and became rather popular online through sites like Youtube and various MMORPGs. When he turned eighteen, he went straight to college with high hopes to fall in love. He's unaware about how attractive he is. Maybe his looks will help women see past what a nerd he is.
RPSAMPLE !
Her breathing changed all together when he told his story. He felt her tears. More tears that he desperately wanted to wipe away. He looked down at her. Feeling the sudden change in her breathing and the tone in her voice.
He let her go when she rolled away. He sat up and watched her back. Brown pools filled with wonder on what she was saying. Not quite confusion. He was silent. Only hearing the sound of Leelyn's voice and his racing heart. He took note of Sawyer coming out of hiding. He looked over at them with blind eyes. Not daring to come downstairs. He was still pale. He looked exhausted. Ales couldn't blame his friend.
They were both quiet as Leelyn spoke. Only watching her with intense stares. Alex opened his mouth to speak; to ask questions, but his voice cracked every time and he couldn't speak. No one could speak. The two boys' were just...there. Two flies on the wall. Learning things they probably shouldn't know about.
He saw Sawyer wince away from when she screamed. Her pitch must've been torture on his ears. Alex, being Alex, moved a few inches away. His heart thundered now. His mind racing with so many questions he couldn't remember half of them. Only that every single one of them started with "Why?"
He bit his tongue as she told the rest. He stared into her eyes. Feeling every emotion she had toward this. She blamed herself. In a way. He understood. He knew, somehow, how she was feeling. Another thing that was going through his mind. (Warning! Boyish thoughts) So, the woman I love is from the FBI.....Great...I think. he was quiet. Thinking of what to say next. But, he was speechless, thoughtless. He had the deer-in-the-headlights look on him. He looked up where Sawyer was standing. He was gone. Alex rolled his eyes and inched his way over to Leelyn.
He sat directly beside her. His back facing her. He crossed his legs and sighed "No one's going to die. No one but Dimitri." he pulled his knees to his chest and hugged them. "It's ok to feel fear. It's only natural. Same with emotion." he closed his eyes and heaved another long shaky sigh. He looked over his shoulder down at her "Why are you telling us this?" he asked. This was a question he just had to have the answer to.
He frowned. His mind's eye became fogged and dizzy. He swayed loosely from side to side as he tried to listed to Leelyn. He understood what he could, but it was all too confusing. He was so tired, that the words she spoke seemed to float from one ear and out the other. His mind only picking up various sounds and words. He tried to arrange them into something that made sense. When Leelyn screamed. It sounded like he was in a long hallway filled with dog whistles that were all going off at once. He whimpered and backed off, wanted to get away from the terrible noise. Filled with such agony.
He slid down against the wall and kept his head between his knees. Trying to get the blood flowing into his head again. His mind was shutting down on itself. It wanted sleep. Sleep that Sawyer wouldn't allow. He had to stay awake. He couldn't sleep. He wasn't allowed to sleep. But that's what he wanted. His mind's eye was screaming in protest. To let it rest. He hesitated when Leelyn screamed again. Something about 'sister' and 'can't. There was one other word he couldn't quite catch.
Was he going blind in both ears now? He was so damn tired. He wondered what time it was. He couldn't know. He just knew it was really early in the morning. One, two o'clock maybe. He stood up and tried to navigate his way back to Roxxy's room. He tripped over something, ran into something before he finally made it to her bedside....alive. He unwrapped the leash from around his wrist and looked toward the dog. He clipped on the lead and dragged him away. Sparks whined for a moment but finally gave up and followed. Sawyer looked over to Alex and Leelyn. At least..where he thought they were.
"I'm going to take Sparks out for a minute. Be right back." he muttered and without another word he went out into the rain. It was pouring hard. Dripping into his eyes when he looked up. Drops fell into his ears. Sparks's eyes seemed to glow through the darkness. Amber eyes, wolf eyes. Sawyer's pale figure stood out against the blackness. The boy and his dog simply stood there. Like two statues, standing tall and proud.
Alex watched Sawyer calmly. He had turned and now sat facing Leelyn. One hand was placed on her shoulder. The over hovering over her waist. His friend looked troubled. Same with the dog. Something was on Sawyer's mind. Something dark...Evil. Alex wasn't about to ask what that was. Sawyer grew up with eleven other brothers and sisters. Plotting was something he was good at.
He looked down at Leelyn, his expression soft and at ease. He finally lay his hand down on her waist. His touch was almost Sawyer-like. So soft. He smiled warmly, but the kind gesture vanished when he through about Sawyer. He took his hands away from Leelyn and stood up. "I'll be back in a moment. I need to tell Sawyer something." he said hesitantly. He followed Sawyer outside. The raid pounded on his head as he ran out to Sawyer.
He didn't seem to hear him coming, which was odd. Alex touched him shoulder and spun him around. Just to see Sawyer's dead expression. He frowned "What do you want, Alex." his voice was bitter, it was painful to hear. Alex looked away, down to Sparks, whose amber eyes bore into him. "I just wanted to know if you were.....alright" he racked his mind for the right words. Sawyer turned on his heel, facing away from Alex again. "Never better." he mumbled over the rain. Alex hesitated again. Taking two good steps back "Ok, just curious. You shouldn't stay out here long you know. You could.." he was cut off when he suddenly saw Sawyer right there. They were nose to nose. Alex's heart sped up. "Listen here, Alex. I would prefer it if you left me in peace right now. My mind's eye is gone and I can't see ANYTHING! Not even in my head! It's so blurry." Sawyer lifted his head and looked up.
He was like a bat. Sawyer could defiantly see. Just differently. It was his secret! He hated those bastards for what they did to his eyes. He'd never forgive them for his blindness. He also thanked them for his mind's eye. As stupid as it was. When he was diagnosed with visually imparement. The doctors decided to do a little "experiment" on his eyes. Make his vision better. He felt like a lab rat! Not even his parents knew about what these people did to him! They thought it was a simple surgery that failed in the end. No! They took his sight from him! They did give him enhanced hearing. Something that sometimes let Sawyer see brief silvery images of his surroundings. Like colour-blindness. Or echolocation. He was blind out of his eyes! Didn't mean he was in total darkness like he was in now. He felt really blind! No images came to mind. Nothing but fogged out darkness! Like he was floating in the River Styx. Just dead. He frowned "You're pretty much the only one who knows. Alex! You should understand! I'm so tired I can't think straight!" he cried, ready to pull his hair out.
"Sleep then. If it's what your mind wants than that's what you should give it! You'll have your sight back as soon as you rest." Alex's voice trailed off. Sawyer began to pace like a mad man, blinking wildly. Foaming at the mouth. "I can't sleep! I won't sleep! Not until Roxxy wakes up. Not until I know she's alright!" he slipped backwards and landing on his back. He rolled over onto his side and moaned. Anguish filled his mind. He felt Alex beside him. "She is alright! You have to stop thinking of the future! You have to think of now! Sawyer! She's fine!" he explained. Sawyer frowned. Could Alex be right? When it came to stuff like this...Alex knew all. "I can't help it Alex! I can't not think about the future! That's all I have!" his voice was low now. Like the voice his mother used at home. Something fell from the corner of his eye. He reached up and felt something wet and salty. It was a tear...A TEAR! Something rare for Sawyer. When Sawyer cried it was tearless sobs. Very rare did even a single tear fall. Not now. His dry eyes let them drip down the side of his white face. "My past is screwed up! My parents don't know why I'm really blind! No one but you and Evean! I was a lab rat. An experiment. My eyes were worthless for me when I was born! But I could still see out of them!" he curled up into a little ball on the ground. Sparks howled for a moment. His master was sad! His mate was hurt and now he was truly blind. The dog came over and lay next to him, like he did with Roxxy. Sawyer spun around and threw his arms around Spark's neck and cried into his shoulder. "Now Roxxy's hurt! I wasn't there to help her when she really needed me. I failed! I promised myself I wouldn't let her get hurt when I was around. I broke that! Look at her Alex! Her screams are still ringing in my mind. Haunting me! Like a entity that won't go away! Even when commanded!" it felt good to speak his mind. To cry. Alex was dead silent. Sawyer's eyes were squeezed shut as he curled up next to Sparks. He gripped his neck and held him as if it were his life he was clinging to life. Sparks was his life. There was no other dog. The huge canine's thick coat was like a shield to him. Only the sound of the rain filled his mind. Not until Alex broke the peaceful silence.
"Sawyer. C'mon. I hate seeing you like this. You need to think on the bright side! She's alive! and she loves you just as much as you love her." Now that he knew what was going on through Sawyer's head. He knew what to tell his friend. To comfort him. Alex loved Sawyer. He was his very best friend. And seeing his best friend curled up in the rain crying his heart out was painful to watch. There were tears. Tears of pain. He looked up. Dark shadows circled his eyes. He looked like he hasn't slept for weeks. Like he was wearing dark purple eyeliner. His skin was still close to white. "How do you---" Alex half smiled "Every time she looks at you. I can just see it. She loves you! Her eyes light up every time." Crawling over to Sawyer he sat next to him. He sat up and looking into Alex's eyes. As if he could see them.
Alex didn't really understand how Sawyer's mind worked. It was like a jigsaw puzzle. One that couldn't be solved. He was once told, by Sawyer himself, that he himself didn't quite know how his strange ability worked. That brought Alex back to comparing Sawyer with a bat. His ears were everything. He heard everything! Every sound turning itself into an object. Same with his sense of touch. Every time he touched something. It became a detailed image of whatever it was. That was only Alex's theory. Whatever those doctors did with him. It was confusing. But Sawyer was so good at it. Whatever it was.
"I have to trust you, Alex. You can see everything and anything. You're my eyes. Right?" Sawyer asked his voice sober now. Alex smiled "Yeah. I've always been your eyes, Sawyer. I always will." he pursed his lips. Sawyer's eyes were now closed and his muscles looked relaxed. For the first time that night. Sawyer looked peaceful. Content. Alex looked at the sky. The rain slowed to a heavy drizzle. The clouds began to run. Stars shone through holes in the sky. The moon hid behind a single cloud. Lighting up the fluffy grey cloud. The edges turning white. Letting some light rest on the Earth. All three of them looked up now. Sparks was like a pillow to Sawyer and Alex.
Sawyer's eyes were now open. The corners of his lips pulled up slightly. Alex watched him. His chest rose and fell steadily now. He looked up again. "What does it look like? The moon I mean."
Alex had to think for a minute. "The moon?" he mused gnawing on his lower lip. This was a hard one. He knew Sawyer wanted detail. "It's kinda like the sun, but darker. A great silver disk in the sky, Only on a full moon. It changes shape you know. One night it may be a full moon, and then a few nights later, only half, It's bright sometimes, dark sometimes." he pulled his eyebrows together as he tried to learn more. More words to describe the moon. He felt sorry for Sawyer. Living for twenty years without knowing what the moon looks like. "It could be as red as blood or as blue as the ocean." he scratched his scalp. "Yellow at times." he was getting worse at describing things. He looked over at Sawyer. "What do you see?" he asked, curious. Sawyer looked over at him and smiled "Exactly what you're telling me." he closed his eyes again. Alex stared at the sky. It was now a blanket of stars, hiding behind a canopy of clouds. Each floating individually. Some creating shapes. It brought back memories.
"Just like old times." Sawyer muttered before hand. Alex smiled "Just like old times." he repeated. He remembered laying on the very top of the hill back at Sawyer's family ranch. Laying with Sawyer, Syra, Layra, and Evean. All laying together. In a circle, their heads together. Looking up at the sky. Laughing, singing, maybe even just laying there. The sweet scent of the Sage still hung in the air, It was like he could smell it.
He looked at Sawyer "We should go back inside. We've been out here for a while." he sat up. Sawyer opened his eyes. "You go. I'll be there in a moment. I need some time to think." he murmured. Alex stood up and nudged Sawyer's ankle with his toe "Alright." he looked at Sparks. The look in the animal's eye claimed that he was to stay. Alex nodded to him. Sparks was wolf, he could sleep out here. He slept in the front yard at home. Only once or twice a week. Running a hand through his wet hair. Alex stepped back inside. He looked back at Sawyer only once than closed the door and walked back over to Leelyn.
"I'm sorry that took so long." he whispered, glad to be at her side again.
