HISTORY:Blake did not have a happy life at home, born to a mother that didn’t want her and an Army father that died in combat when she was less than a year old. Shortly afterwards, her mother met an attorney and married him, leaving Blake with her father’s last name while adopting that of her new husband’s. In the house, Blake could never do anything right and as such, her confidence was completely shot and her ability to trust was broken beyond easy fixes. Blake learned to survive, though, and came out a much better person than her mother ever was.
She left home at 18, having paid her way through school by working at a local music store and offering private piano lessons on the side, getting to know a lot of the kids in her school. It wasn’t uncommon for parents to sign their kids up after the kid had acted up and use the piano lessons as punishment. Blake always tried to make it fun, but that didn’t always work, especially because she was so young, few people wanted to listen to her until she showed them that she wasn’t just another kid, she had talent and could play. She also offered vocal lessons on the side as well, her niche being almost anything musical, she began teaching herself various instruments.
Arriving at Alpine Falls, she as far enough away from home that her mother would not interfere, even if she wanted to, and Blake settled into her new life here, hoping to make some friends and enjoying the freedom she had. She quickly found another job at a music store, continuing to offer piano lessons while enrolling in school for a degree in music theory and composition.
