It had been a great few months for Codie, she was expecting something to go wrong very soon, nothing in her life ever worked out like this. She was making friends, doing well in classes, and felt like she was in the best shape of her life. Not to mention she was enjoying spending most of her free time with Ryan, he was helping her expand her horizon, opening new doors for her to explore, and she was very happy, but she felt bad for not being with some of her other friends as well.
Deciding that she needed to take some time to rekindle her friendship with others she first called up her friend Cam. Glad that he accepted her invite to dinner she decided that she would help make this night memorable, and hoped that she wouldn't let their friendship slip away.
While preparing for their friendship date, Codie couldn't help but think of when she first met Cam. She was instantly attracted to him, he reminded her of high school. Her, being a head cheerleader in high school, immediately recognized him as a football player, quarterback more specifically, it was just one of her many gifts she was given. She knew eventually she would have to grow up and move on from high school, but she just wasn't ready to quite do that yet. She remembered the feeling, the butterflies and nervous feeling that she got when he finally asked her out on a date, if only she had read those feelings right from the start.
It wasn't that she wasn't physically attracted to him or didn't want it to work out, she just should have realized that the relationship that worked best for them was just a simple friendship. Besides, it was more fun just to tease and joke around.
Picking out a tight fitting blue dress and matching it with a pair of heels, she pulled her hair up quickly, grabbed her purse and headed out of her dorm room. Heading down the hall to the curb out front, Codie hoped that Cam got her text to meet her outside her dorm. Leaning up against a light pole, she stuck her leg out, supporting some of her weight, while showing off her toned, bare leg.

outfitCam had to admit, so far this school year was turning out to be one of his favourites. LIke Codie, he'd met a lot of really great people and even his grades weren't too bad. There was just the simple fact that his family had been trying to call him lately to ruin his otherwise good mood. He didn't want to talk to them and as far as he was concerned, he didn't have to. They'd chosen to not have him in their lives when they'd cut him off and left him to fend for himself two years ago. He knew who his family was and those were the people that had stuck around, his friends. To Cam, Codie was definitely one of these people. She just.. got it. Maybe it was because her path to Aspen Falls had been a similar one or else maybe it was the fact that they were so damn alike. Honestly, it was like they were twins, except for the fact that Cam was useless as a dancer. Two left feet or whatever they said, though it wasn't without trying to improve either. He probably should have known that they were too similar from the start and from there left things at friends, but he'd pushed and it had lead to one weird first and last date. There was just no "spark" in the romance department. Funny how the universe always seemed to have other plans.. not that Cam was into all that "fate" stuff. Well, maybe he was to be honest. He'd been catching up on some homework in his own dorm when his alarm had gone off, letting him know it was time to go meet Codie at her dorm. It wasn't a far walk since he was just a few buildings over and he slipped on his jacket before heading out into the fall's evening air. He walked quickly, but not so fast that it looked off. His hands were in his pockets and as he neared her dorm, he caught sight of her leaning against a lamp post. He smirked to himself and headed over. "Sorry to keep you waiting princess, these dorms are just way too confusing.." he teased, playfully. "I mean, what genius decided to make them all look the same anyways?" He was just kidding obviously since being a junior he knew the campus very well. Not thinking about it, he pulled her in for a friendly hug, smiling before releasing her again and facing her. "So where were you thinking? he asked her, wondering where she wanted to go and eat. It had been her idea after all and as far as he was concerned food was food.

Tapping her foot in rhythm to the song playing in her head, Codie used the few minutes she was waiting to go over a few dance steps in her head. She was excited for the fall production, but like any performance, she was always afraid of messing things up. Codie was awoken from her trance when she heard Cam approach and pull her into a hug. She smiled brightly at him when he released her.
"Oh your such a ham Carter, but that's why I like you." she said with a friendly smile. She knew she didn't have to worry about leading him on with her flirty little comments, she was just glad that she had a friend like him she could joke around with. "Umm, I was thinking that little Italian place downtown, I know I should lay off the carbs, but they taste so good."
[/b] Linking her arm around his, Codie let Cam lead the way. "So Carter...whats new?"[/b] [/blockquote]

Lay off the carbs? Cam would have to disagree there. Codie had a great body, probably from her years of dancing but he understood what she meant about needing to stay in shape. He'd been like that too with sports, grant it he hadn't touched a football since freshman year. If he was going to be in own man, to him he needed to put football into his past as much as it killed him. The sport wasn't his anymore. It was his father's and maybe always had been, There was other sports he could have tried, but Cam was afraid he'd end up a one-hit wonder, good at football and a joke at anything else. Better to steer clear.
When she called him a ham, he took a playful bow and laughed a little. It was easy joking around with Carson. That was his nickname for her, Carson. He couldn't even remember calling her by anything else, ever. He'd just started calling her by her last name and it had stuck. He was pretty sure that even when he'd asked her out it had been "So Carson, are you busy tonight because I know this great little place on the other side of town.." Yep, that was Cam and for some reason, he'd been confident she'd say yes. Well, thankfully she had because it had lead to something amazing; their friendship. Cam wouldn't mess that up for the world.
"Italian is good." He agreed, starting to walk and mentally trying to think of what to order when they got there since he liked almost everything (which was true after extensively trying every dish on the menu over the past few years. He was adventurous like that.) As she asked about him, linking their arms he shrugged. Like most guys, he wasn't overly forward about talking about himself or the personal stuff that went on in his life. He was a great listener and good for advice when you had a problem, but being in reverse was a different story. "Nothing really." he said, then casually like it was nothing at all added ".. my mother's been trying to reach me, but it's probably not a big deal. Nothing that matters anyways,:
And then he changed the subject. "What about you? How's the fall production coming? Better now that I've been "excused from my duties" a stage manager?" Okay, so not many people knew this.. well everyone knew to be honest, but Cam had really been horrible at stage managing (something he'd decided to try out this year since between work and school, he needed something fun to do) and been asked to leave the show. To his defense, he'd argue that the choice was biased and he was actually fabulous (a complete lie since things would fall over and cues would be missed almost every second with him at the helm of the production). Simply, the stage wasn't for this guy.

Part of her was glad that he changed the subject, but another was scared, she didn’t like talking about herself, just as much as he didn’t. She was mainly afraid that she would talk too much, ultimately revealing too much personal details about her life. She had done so well keeping it all a secret, that she was afraid in a ramble it would all be revealed, but there was something about Cam, she just couldn’t always keep her mouth shut. Pulling her arm away from Cam, Codie playfully slugged him in the arm before taking ahold once again. ”What? You weren’t that bad. Well okay yes, you sucked at some things, but I’ve definitely seen worse than you.”
[/b] Smiling up at Cam she tried to be nice, convincing him that he could have been worse, but also thinking to herself that it was indeed better now that he was no longer stage manager. ”Truth? Its coming along great, I think it’s going to be amazing, but it does kind of suck not seeing you there everyday. You’re still going to come to the production right? You know Carter…we could always cast you as a tree or something…then you’d still be a part of the show.”[/b] Codie joked around with Cam, taking his arms and raising them up into the air as she joked about him being a tree. ”You’d be such a cute tree, think about all the girls throwing themselves at you, pining over you, not like they don’t already, but they’d be after you in the dozens. Girls cant stay away from straight male dancers/performers.”[/b] Laughing, Codie knew that Cam would never agree to it, especially since he already knew what his costume would have to be. Not many straight guys were comfortable in the tiny tight tights they had to wear. [/blockquote]
