Annabel sighed at her reflection in the mirror of her dorm room's bathroom. Simple, slightly curly, mid shoulder length, dark brown hair paired with dark brown eyes on a tiny body. Could she be any more ordinary or boring? Girls like her were a dime a dozen. It was no wonder that she did not have a boyfriend, nor a billion friends. Annabel was quite certain that such individuals prefer to spend their time with ladies that are, at least, a wee bit interesting.
She sighed and picked up maroon colored, leather knapsacK. Staring at the mirror and fervently wishing for an alteration would be of no avail. Annabel had tested this theory on multiple occasions and, as of yet, it had yet to procure the desired results - a five foot nine, athletic build complete with long, golden hair and baby blue eyes. Besides, she had an ancient history class beginning in about twenty minutes, the professor of which was not particularly fond of students who were in the habit of being tardy.
Annabel made her way out of the dorm building and across the pretty campus. As she walked, she admired the lush coloring of the long, lean trees and wistfully muttered a couple of lines of poetry to herself. The sights of nature always brought, to her mind, the words of poets long gone.
Regretfully, minutes later, Annabel was to take leave leave of the campus grounds in favor of a dull, beige lecture hall. While the young lady was quite fond of learning, she did not particularly relish the thought of remaining indoors upon such a lovely day.
Annabel took her usual seat at the front of the classroom and smiled at the note upon the whiteboard. Today, they were to be assigned a research project. She adored challenging, thought provoking assignments like this and looked forward to completing it.
A quick glance at her watch informed Annabel that class would not begin for an additional ten minutes. To alleviate her boredom, she pulled out a copy of Homer's The Illiad (translated, of course) from her knapsack and began to read. Annabel always had a book handy for times like this. outfitHistory was not a subject that Madison enjoyed. She understood that it was important in shaping how the world was today, but she honestly would have rather been out enjoying the world of today. It was something she'd grumbled about all morning as she walked around her off-campus apartment begging Oliver to give her a reason to stay home and play hooky. But alas, it didn't work and Madi knew he was right. Classes weren't cheap and it was one of the few things they'd already paid for since moving here. So, grabbing some coffee, she headed to her closet (well their closet which contained about 97% her stuff) and picked out a dress and some shoes and a bag. It was a bit on the dressy side for school, but the weather was still nice out and she was determined not to be that freshman that showed up to class in sweatpants or worse, pajamas. Seriously, who did that? It was just lazy. She remembered people who'd done that at her boarding school in Florida too and how she'd vowed to never echo the "trend." She was only running about five minutes behind schedule when she headed out the door and headed the few blocks towards the lecture hall the class took place in. The walk was a nice one and she was glad that she'd chosen something light to wear as the sun shone down upon her. Students passed in a hurry not to be late, but she didn't speed up knowing their professor had a habit of being late himself, which she found to be true again as she made her way into the room at last. The place was packed full of students and of course, the only place to sit was the front. Madison was not impressed. She'd always been a middle girl. Not too eager like those in the front, but not there for a nap like the people in the back. She walked through the room and spotted an empty seat beside a brunette girl (Annabel) and smiled friendly smile to her as she took the seat. She wondered if the girl had even seen her, noting the book in her hands. Probably not, she decided looking away and taking out her notebook as the professor finally entered and began to speak about some project that was on the board, a partnered project. They were to pair up with someone near them and choose a topic from the list that was being given. She looked at the girl beside her again, hoping that she would have some idea about what they were doing and want to be partners, Given her choice of reading materials, she seemed smart. Not that Madison wasn't smart, she was just more street smart and a lot of her grades in the past had been a reflection of her social skills. She'd always been good with teachers and her peers and the grades had just sort of come to her. She had to admit she was pretty sure a few of her male teachers had given her grades based on her looks too. "Hey, I'm Madison. Would you maybe want to work on this together?" she asked the girl in the same friendly tone as before. ooc: it's like 1:30 am here so if it's horrible, i'm sorry! lol
