HISTORY !
Growing up as an only child never felt right. Summer begged her mom for a sibling, somebody to play with. When you're not good at making friends a sibling seems so easy, somebody who automatically has to be your friend. But it was difficult to have a sibling when your parents divorced when you were three year old and your mother never remarried. She didn't blame her mom. Okay, maybe she did in the beginning but she didn't understand then.
Elementary school was a little easier, her dad was still around then. A small school also helped her to be successful in making friends. She was still very shy, that would never change, but as she got closer to those in her class she became a little bit more outgoing and a little bit more confident in herself. That confidence crashed and burned in middle school. Puberty was difficult for Summer. She felt even more awkward in her own skin.
Her dad got remarried when she was eleven and because of his wife, his daughter was put on the back burner. Summer started going months on end without even a phone call from her dad. She wasn't very happy at this point in her life so she turned to music. Listening to it constantly turned into singing it constantly which then turned into learning guitar.
In high school, she opened up a bit more and became more comfortable in her own skin. She didn't branch out and make friends, she stuck with the choir kids but that was okay. Summer actually enjoyed herself at that point in her life. In tenth grade she started posting videos of her original songs online and a new world opened up for her. People actually seemed to enjoy what they were hearing. Through this youtube channel, summer decided to follow a music career. It was a dream that required her to push past her insecurities and although it was going to be hard, she was willing to give it a try.
Now she's in her sophomore year of college and she's still following her dream. Not much has changed with her father, but she's a lot more open now than ever before. She's not wiling to walk up to random strangers yet but if they came up to her she would attempt to carry on a conversation. That's an improvement, right? While she's progressing so much within herself, one thing that has never progressed for her is a relationship with the opposite sex. She's nineteen and has never even been kissed. Hopefully that will change soon. She'll have to just wait and see.
RPSAMPLE !
If the early mornings and stacks of homework hadn’t already been great enough reminders, the weather outside really let Evelyn know that it was no longer summer time. No more laying outdoors in an unsuccessful attempt at darkening her pale skin and more importantly, no more staying up late until all hours of the night and sleeping in. The sixteen year old had always been a night owl. Unfortunately, school made that almost impossible and she woke up feeling miserable most days. Mornings just weren’t her thing. Never would be.
Dreary days always put the usually cheery girl in a very crabby mood. Mainly because all they did was make her want to sleep and when she finally rolled out of bed, usually not as early as she wanted to, she had to deal with a pile of blond ringlets that she knew would be frizzy the moment the disgusting weather hit them. With this type of weather, she simply threw her hair into some form of up-do, choosing a low pony tail on this particular day. It was very neat, of course. The teen felt awkward enough in her body, she didn’t need to add worrying about her hair to the list.
To make matters worse, her charms professor had given her yesterday and today to ask for help in preparation for the upcoming exam. No matter how much work Evelyn put into charms class, she simply couldn’t succeed. Asking for help would have been no problem if she had been allowed to ask whomever she wanted to, but the person she was supposed to ask had already been chosen for her. Danny Pagan.
Honestly, Evelyn couldn’t remember a single time she had ever said a word to the boy. He just never seemed like he wanted to talk. Not only to her, but to anybody. Since she already had a difficult time talking to other people, she had always decided to save herself the effort. There were plenty other people to have conversations with. Now she had no choice.
Since she had put off the task of asking him all morning, by lunch she decided that she might as well just get it over with. It would feel like a weight had lifted off her shoulders afterwards, right? She sure hoped so. After a quick trip to the great hall, she found out that he was most likely in the library. So, walking as slow as possible without looking absolutely ridiculous, she headed there.
After a brief, polite greeting with the librarian she scanned the library, looking for any sign of him. There was a boy that looked like him, he had an array of supplies all around him and he didn’t seem like he wanted to be disturbed. She approached him slowly, stopping once she was a bit closer and glancing at a shelf of books. Upon closer inspection, the boy was definitely Danny. Now all she had to do was figure out what the hell she was going to say to him.
Instead of over analyzing things, Evelyn decided that if she went right into it she might just know what to say. That worked sometimes. Okay, not really, but it had worked one time and if it worked once it could work again. Before she could begin to argue with herself, she approached him slowly, praying to god that she wouldn’t trip or do something else embarrassing during her approach. ”Danny? Uh, hey. I’m Evelyn, you know… Evelyn in your charms class? ” Why did she always do this to herself, he probably knew her name but she insisted on making herself sound like an idiot. She could already feel her face begin to heat up. God, this was so embarrassing. ”I sort of… well, professor Flitwick told me that I needed a tutor-“ ”And he sort of told me it had to be you…”
